Do You look After Someone?

An unpaid carer provides vital support to someone who, due to frailty, illness, or disability, cannot manage on their own. This care covers a broad spectrum of needs, varying with the individual's condition, which might include physical disabilities, mental health challenges, learning difficulties, or substance use issues. Carers support people of all ages, and while often family members, friends or neighbors can also take on significant caregiving roles.

Since its establishment, Grampian Opportunities has been committed to supporting adult carers through a range of services: providing information and advice, offering emotional support, giving practical help, facilitating social and peer connections, and directing carers to additional resources.

Our aim is to ensure every carer in the area receives the necessary support and information to feel valued, confident in their caregiving role, and empowered to develop their own potential. If this description resonates with you, you know someone it might apply to, or you're unsure about your situation, we encourage you to get in touch. Our team is ready to discuss your circumstances further.

New carers connecting with Grampian Opportunities are matched with a Care worker suited to their specific support needs. To prepare for your first meeting, consider how your caring responsibilities affect your life and what kind of assistance would be most helpful to you.
