What We Do
Grampian Opportunities works with vulnerable adults with long term conditions, mental health challenges, autism and learning disability. We use the term "learners" and offer a range of services which promote learning leading to enhanced independence.
The services include but are not limited to independent travel, basic life skills digital awareness and safety health and wellbeing, confidence building all things money, safe relationships, in work training, explore the world or work and get ready for work. The delivery methods include our life skills group – “Go Forward Learners Club” running Monday to Friday 10 am – 3 pm fully timetabled using art, drama, music, learning modules, digital fun and a variety of other teaching and mentoring methods.
In addition, we operate a Social Club we have a full cinema licence for the categories of people we work with, alongside community coffee mornings, artist supported classes, an allotment for outdoor activities.
We also have a get Creative Art Group weekly, ran by our Resident Artist and supported by a volunteer Artist.
Therapeutic, chatting together groups, men's mental health group, therapeutic drumming and light exercise groups for health and wellbeing. These are run in addition to the learner’s Club.
In addition to this we have the GO to Work club the program The group cover, all aspects of exploring the world of work and their unique talents and skills.
We work with families, carers and their cared for to supporting them back into employment as well as offer support in the way of Financial First Aid and IT buddies.
We additionally have the Scottish Government contract until 2027 to independently support families and unpaid carers traverse the word of SDS. This supports and promotes diversity, inclusion and choice.
